Research and documentation centre
The museum houses a research and documentation centre accessible by appointment. The reading room is open from Monday to Friday during the museum’s opening hours.
Following the renovation of the museum, a full inventory was done of the library's books.
6,000 publications are available for consultation, in addition to which there are new acquisitions and full or partial donations of the libraries of the Companions of the Liberation Fred Moore, Hubert Germain and Pierre-Henri Clostermann, Marie-Claire Hettier de Boislambert, Stéphane Inbona, Christine Levisse-Touzé and the Fondation de la Résistance.
The Museum of the Order of Liberation possesses photographic collections (approximately 30,000 photographs) on the following themes:
- Companions of the Liberation
- General de Gaulle (most notably between 1940 and 1945)
- The Free French journey
- Internal Resistance
The museum holds individual files on Companions of the Liberation and French Resistance Medal recipients, as well as thematic files that form extensive archival collections.
These collections are expanded each year through donations from the families of Companions, private individuals and research at other archive centres.
