The fourragère of the Order of the Liberation

By means of the aministerial order of 23 February 1996, the Defense Minister created the fourragère (braid) of the Order of the Liberation, which was meant to ensure the continuity of the Order of the Liberation and to preserve the memory of the deceased Companions of the Liberation.

On June 18th, 1996, during the traditional ceremony that commemorates the Appeal of June 18th, 1940 at Mont Valérien, Mr. Jacques Chirac, President of the French Republic awarded the black and green fourragère of the Order of the Liberation to the corps commanders of the 17 Companion of the Liberation units (who had received the heritage of the Companion units).

All of the members of the military units mentioned have the right to wear this fourragère.
