The June 18th commemorative events at Mont-Valérien

The duties of the Chancellery

The Chancellor is assisted by the Secretary General of the Order, who is his principal private secretary.

Mr. Loïc Le Bastard has been Secretary General since 1991.

The Cabinet coordinates the various duties of the Chancellery :

The Cabinet works closely with the Museum of the Order of the Liberation, the Mutual Aid Society of the Companions of the Liberation and the National Commission of the Resistance Medal.

Contact with the families of the Companions is necessary for the effective operation of the Order: it enables the Companions to be continually informed of the latest news about the Order, and to request their participation in commemorative events. It also provides a source of donations for the Museum, which shall continue to see to the remembrance of the Companions after they have passed away. The Chancellery publishes a yearly In Memoriam newsletter, which also includes a list of the important events of the past year.

However, the Cabinet spends most of its time dealing with the event in which the Chancellor participates, the most important of which are the June 18th commemorative ceremonies at Mont Valérien.
